Northumberland Karate - Pictou County's Oldest Karate Dojo
"The ultimate aim in the art of Karate, lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants." - Gichin Funakoshi
Northumberland Karate is Pictou County’s oldest Karate Dojo, established Feb 28, 1973.  We are a non-profit organization that provide traditional Karate instruction in a layered training format.  Students of all ages enjoy the benefits of improved fitness, confidence and self esteem.  With our mandated and innovative teaching curriculum, every student that enters the Dojo is treated as a potential instructor.
Our Dojo boasts a student base of 70+ members consisting of Kids (7-12 yrs), Juveniles (13 - 17 yrs) & Adults (18+ yrs).  The curriculum includes Kata (Regular, PK & Jiyu), Kihon including 10 Waza's and Kumite (Gohan, Sanbon, Ippon & Free Sparring).
We train at the Trenton Elementary School on the corner of Duke Street & 6th Street in Trenton, Nova Scotia.  We have open registration and students can join any time.  The Kids Program runs from September to June and the Juvenile & Adult Programs runs all year.  The first month of training is free to all new students. Our very affordable cost structure can be seen here.
